So today is the day. Customarily I wake up early, ready for whatever the day has in store, but when the day includes sailing away on a 111 day cruise, well that is special. We have the whole day to get our stuff on the ship. We can check in around noon and then we don't sail away until 8:00 PM. I can just imagine sailing out of LA shortly after sunset knowing that we won't be back for 111 days. It is exciting and daunting at the same time. Wish us luck and keep in touch.
Blog update- I did find a setting on the blog which should now allow anyone to post comments. Previously, and I guess by default, it had been set to just Google accounts. Please try again to post comments and we will see how it works now.
Can you believe that we could see snow on the mountains around LA? I remember living here in 1979, Redondo Beach, and I didn't even know you could see the mountains for the first 3 months I was here. Then, after a big wind and rain, there they were, visible because the smog had been blown away. Maybe it is just my perception, but the air quality seems so much better than in the late 70's. Fascinating article about 50 years of LA battling air quality. LINK
Another update that doesn't sound so promising. LINK The air quality that we are seeing in LA now I guess is the result of the recent rains and wind. Well, I was hoping things were getting better. The things you have time to look into when you are on a 111 day cruise, and we haven't even left yet!

ReplyDeleteI was wondering what the name of your ship is. Can you post that?

ReplyDeleteBon Voyage! Hope your trip is spectacular, special and safe.
ReplyDeleteSo excited for you guys!! Sounds like you're ready! You should sign things Ingrid or Leo so we know who is writing which posts (I mean I can tell this one was Dad because I know Mom would never say "customarily I wake up early" ;) ). Love you!!
ReplyDeleteTrue - mom never uses big words like "customarily".... I couldn't resist! - Dad
DeleteI don't know - Ingrid got my kids saying "scamper" and "frolic"! Have a great time! --Kay
DeleteHope you are having fun on your cruise! I assume you left port about 20 minutes ago at this point. Miss you already.
ReplyDeleteLeo and Ingrid - you're going to have the time of your lives! I see, however, you're going to Komodo Island. While I have never been there and it's not in my future plans, I have watched a show about Komodo dragons on NatGeo Wild, and all I can say is Stay Away!
