Day 17 -
What a wonderful time in Tahiti and French Polynesia. I want to get this post up quickly, but
hopefully I will be able to post some better pictures later. We spent 3 fantastic days in French Polynesia
at 3 locations. The first day in the
Tahiti city of Papeete where we went diving for the first time. Beautiful warm water, about 88 degrees F and
clear water, but a bit overcast skies.
The dive master was great and took us to a reef where they have the
large sea turtles. We had them swimming
right at us and got some great pics. I’m
not sure how the pics will show up, but watching the turtles glide past
majestically about 3 feet away was beautiful to experience. So the first dive
went great.
Day 2 in French Polynesia was at Huahine where we didn’t get
in the water, but took tour in a jeep-like contraption. After our 4 hour tour in the morning I wanted
to go watch the Superbowl, that turned out to be not so super, and Ingrid went
on another 4 hour tour in the afternoon.
George went with Ingrid, since he didn’t want to watch New England win “Another”
Superbowl, and Jan watched the game with me in the theater with screaming NE
fans.
Day 3 in French Polynesia was in Raiatea, “you
can see Bora Bora from the dive site!”.
We did two dives that were amazing.
On both dives we were greeted by blacktip sharks, that we were
told were not interested in divers. Our
dive master, Mathew, said, “Why eat bones and gristle when you can have the
best sushi in the world?” Well, it was
nice that the sharks listened to his advice, but having 6’ sharks, sometimes
many at a time, sharing our Pacific bathtub was a bit “interesting” to say the
least. I will post this now so you know
that we weren’t eaten and I will try to post a little more when time permits.

| Somehow the 6' sharks always look hungry! |

I love the turtle pictures . Sounds like a warm and wonderful time.
